Dr. Lewis provides individual psychotherapy services to adults and adolescents. He has worked in outpatient, inpatient, and residential treatment settings with clients experiencing varying degrees of distress and adversity. Dr. Lewis takes an active and collaborative approach to individual psychotherapy. During the initial sessions of treatment with a new patient, he assesses their situation and the concerns that prompted them to seek help. He then works with them to identify goals for their treatment. Dr. Lewis utilizes a variety of strategies and tailors his approach to each individual’s unique nature and situational challenges. He believes it important that his patients increase awareness of themselves and what they are experiencing, and helps them identify techniques to optimize coping. Throughout the course of treatment, he monitors their progress towards goal completion and helps them identify additional strategies as needed. Dr. Lewis encourages his patients to play an active role in their treatment to foster confidence and self-efficacy.
Dr. Lewis is available to consult with other health care professionals who seek assistance with challenging diagnostic and intervention matters. He has over 20 years experience in multiple mental health treatment settings, to include outpatient, inpatient and residential settings. Dr. Lewis has worked extensively with patients presenting an elevated risk for violence and self-harm, and is available to consult on these and other clinical matters.
